WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT THE OPERATION BLUE STAR…!

WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT THE OPERATION BLUE STAR…!
Do you really know everything correctly about the ‘Operation Blue Star’?

This military operation was carried out by the Indian military to flush out ‘Khalistani Militants’ headed by Sant Bhindranwale from the Akal Takht in the Golden Temple complex, the holy religious shrine & the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs in Amritsar in Punjab.
Sant Bhindranwale had been propped up by the then Congress party of Indira Gandhi to weaken the Akali Dal in Punjab. But, he soon realized his own growing political importance and refused to play the second fiddle to Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi’s attempts to cut him to size politically made him launch the separatist Khalistani Movement in Punjab.
Finally, the political situation became so bad in Punjab that Indira Gandhi had to order military into the Golden Temple complex to try and destroy Sant Bhindranwale along with his militant companions.
At 0730 hours on the 6th of June, 1984, Major General Kuldip Singh Brar is said to have “…ordered Vijayanta Tanks to open fire with 105mm squash head shells on the Akal Takht...” The heavy shelling killed Sant Bhindranwale who was holed up in the Akal Takht in the Golden Temple complex. This enabled the Indian military to take complete control of the shrine.
But, what do you really think that made Major General Kuldip Singh Brar to ignore the orders of the Indian government to use minimum military force and collateral damage to the holy shrine complex? It wasn’t Major General Kuldip Singh Brar but a Captain or Major level junior rank officer of the Madras Regiment who had decided to ignore the government orders of using minimum force when he couldn’t withstand the gory sight of the Indian soldiers being killed mercilessly by the militants of Sant Bhindranwale.
You will not believe in, but some of the Indian soldiers had to take out their shoes on higher orders to enter the complex so as not to pollute the holy shrine. These bare feet soldiers were easily electrocuted by the Sikh militants and lost lives.
That unknown Captain or Major level junior rank officer of the Madras Regiment realized that the Indian soldiers were losing lives more because of the orders from the higher ups not to use heavy force against the Sikh militants. Enraged that several of his soldiers lost lives due to this stupid higher instruction, he decided on his own to ignore those stupid orders and got the Vijayanta Tank to open fire with 105mm squash head shells on the Akal Takht. This changed the course of the whole operation bringing Sant Bhindranwale to an earlier end.
Had that unknown Captain or Major level junior rank officer of the Madras Regiment not ignored the orders from the higher up and not got tank shells on the Akal Takht then the Indian Army would have suffered a pretty much larger number of casualties.
Later, that junior level officer of the Madras Regiment was for some time kept well-guarded at VRDE [Vehicle Research Development Establishment] in Amednagar, Maharashtra.
The claim by Major General Kuldip Singh Brar that he himself had and that too most reluctantly ordered Vijayanta Tanks to open fire with 105mm squash head shells on the Akal Takht is therefore totally wrong…!
This author was a student at that time in 1984-1987 at a college in Amednagar. The parents of some of author’s friends were employed with the VRDE and it was through these friends that the author had learnt about this this factual reality of the Indian history. The author has no reason to disbelieve in the account narrated then by the author’s trusted reliable friends.
